Visiting Disneyland during the holidays is always fun and starting Monday which is Labor Day is the start of the Halloween special events at Disneyland with all the spooky fun continuing until October 31st. The events in Disneyland are a little more family friendly than at nearby long running Knott’s Halloween Haunt or further away at Universal Studios; Unlike those events or even the Oogie Bash at Disney California Adventure you don’t need to pay for a separate after hours admission.
It’s cool to see the regular Disney characters in special Halloween outfits as well as special characters such as the Pumpkin King Jack Skellington and his good friend Sally from Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas. The special Halloween characters can usually be around found around the Haunted Mansion and New Orleans Square. Check the website or Disney app for the characters appearance times on the day of your visit.
The Haunted Mansion
A classic attraction the Haunted House gets a Halloween themed make over for Halloween with touches from The Nightmare Before Christmas across the ride and of course the aforementioned characters out front. The attraction is always on many peoples list but during its Halloween and Christmas make over its more popular than usual although the lines do usually move pretty quick.
Main Street Pumpkin Festival
At this time of year its always fun to walk down Main Street U.S.A and seeing the giant pumpkin (seen above) and, as well as the amazing carved pumpkins on display.
A this time of year they have a special show Halloween Screams where they project ghosts and classic villains set to a medley of Halloween songs as well on some nights fireworks.
